About Geoffrey Dicker
Geoffrey Dicker, author of Sketches of Verbal Alchemy, has always been
interested in the unusual. While most kids his age were playing with
action figures and watching Saturday morning cartoons, Geoffrey was
reading books by Stephen King, dissecting the lyrics of Jim Morrison,
writing song parodies and collecting 20,000-plus celebrity autographs
(movie stars, athletes and political figures) with his older brother,
Alan.
Born and raised in Orange County, California, Geoffrey moved to Los
Angeles and worked for two movie studios, where he managed high-profile
accounts such as the James Bond film franchise. A major Prince fan,
Geoffrey realized a dream in 2005 by working as a creative consultant to
Warner Bros. on a greatest hits set by the artist called Ultimate Prince.
Geoffrey, who relocated to New York in search of new
experiences, was always fascinated by observing people's behaviors,
questioning established norms and seeking new possibilities to age-old
problems. His first book, Sketches of Verbal Alchemy, is a collection of
'verbal sketches' that are thought-provoking, controversial, humorous and
witty.
In the summer of 2007, Geoffrey began collaborating with musician and singer Jim Emmons. Similar to the songwriting partnership of Bernie Taupin and Elton John, Geoffrey sends the lyrics to Jim who then interprets the lyrics musically. The pair have only communicated over the phone and via the internet but have found this process to be highly inspiring. Emmons and Dicker will release the first full length collection of their songs - "In The Absence Of Red" in February 2008.
In addition to writing song lyrics and poetry, Geoffrey also creates abstract paintings and is currently working on a second book of poetry tentatively titled "Unfinished Lyrics."
